Visakhapatnam: YSRCP minister Gudivada Amarnath has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has read from TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu's script during his election campaign speech at Anakapalle and Rajahmundry on Monday.

He said it is obvious PM Modi has allegedly overlooked the hard work and development of Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during the last five years of his term and has now picked up Naidu’s lines to target the ruling YSRC party. He challenged the prime minister to speak against the privatization of the Vizag Steel Plant.

"I will withdraw from the election contest if Narendra Modi speaks against the privatization of the Vizag Steel Plant," Minister Amarnath said.

Centre's decision to privatize the steel plant should be revoked in line with the people's wishes. However, Modi didn't even touch upon the steel plant issue in his public address, the Minister noted.

Mocking Modi, the minister said  the prime minister earlier criticized Naidu for treating the Polavaram project like an ATM. Yet, like Chandrababu, Modi too has reversed his stance and is resorting to falsehoods for electoral gains.

Addressing Modi's assertion that the YSRCP failed to allocate land for the construction of the railway zone in Visakhapatnam, Minister Amarnath countered, "Officials have already handed over the necessary lands. It's inappropriate for someone of the Prime Minister's stature to spread falsehoods."

Meanwhile, Pendurthi MLA  Annamreddy Adeep Raj criticized Modi's omission of the Vizag Steel Plant issue from his speech, labeling it as "outrageous." He lamented the lack of regard for the sentiments of the people of Uttar Andhra and noted Modi's failure to promise to reverse the privatization decision.

"Voting for the TDP alliance means endorsing the privatization of the Vizag steel plant, and Chandrababu Naidu is capable of deceiving anyone. Govada Sugar Factory flourished under Jagan Mohan Reddy's leadership, leading to increased employment with the establishment of numerous industries," MLA Adeep said.
