The much-anticipated Ilaiyaraaja biopic starring Dhanush has officially been announced. Dhanush, a self-proclaimed 'bhakt' (devotee) of the legendary music composer, has opened up about his role in portraying the life of the musical maestro.

At the launch event, Dhanush expressed his deep admiration for Ilaiyaraaja, revealing that the composer's music has been a guiding force in his acting journey. "Before, I didn't know much about acting. But now, I always listen to Ilaiyaraaja's music or background score. It teaches me how to act," Dhanush said. He recounted how he would consume Ilaiyaraaja's songs and act accordingly, with director Vetrimaaran often witnessing this process.

Dhanush believes that portraying Ilaiyaraaja's character will not be a challenge, as he feels the musical genius will continue to guide him. "Even now, his music guides me to act just like him," Dhanush affirmed. He recounted a recent interaction where Ilaiyaraaja asked him if he was his guide, to which Dhanush replied, "Yes, Sir, you've been my guiding light all these years, and I've been following in your footsteps."

The biopic, directed by Arun Matheswaran, will feature Dhanush in the lead role. Ilaiyaraaja himself is expected to compose the music for the film, though the official confirmation is still awaited. The project is a joint venture between Connekkt Media, Mercuri Movies, and PK Prime Production, and it will have a simultaneous release in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

With Dhanush's deep connection to Ilaiyaraaja's music and the legendary composer's involvement in the project, the Ilaiyaraaja biopic promises to be a cinematic celebration of the musical genius that has captivated audiences for decades.
