Indian Passport Holders Can Visit 60 Countries Without Visa

22 Jul, 2022 14:38 IST

The Henley Passport Index has ranked Japan, Singapore, and South Korea as the most powerful passports in the world. The Japanese passport remains the most powerful passport for the fifth year in a row, and it has hassle-free entry to 193 countries following Singapore and South Korea ranked second and third, respectively, with free access to 192 countries. An Indian passport is ranked in 87th place and provides easy access to 60 countries. The lifting of the travel ban has helped passports regain strength. Following the emergence of the Coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, India banned foreign flights in order to restrict the spread of covid-19. After two years, the ban was finally lifted in March this year.

Countries such as Germany, Spain, Finland, Luxembourg, and Italy round out the top ten. According to the most recent rating, the United Kingdom ranks sixth with access to 187 countries, while the United States ranks seventh with a score of 186.

Russian travel documents rank 50th, allowing easy entry to 119 countries. China ranked 69th with access to 80 countries, while Afghanistan's passport is the least useful, allowing holders to enter only 27.
