Khammam: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi sounded the poll bugle of the party in Khammam district for the coming Assembly elections in Telangana. He said the party defeated “a corrupt and anti-poor government” in Karnataka and will repeat the same in Telangana too.

Addressing a massive rally dubbed as Telangana Jana Garjana in Khammam on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on KCR-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and called it a BJP Risthedar Samiti. He said Congress party’s stand against the BJP in Parliament was clear, however, Telangana chief minister KCR’s party has acted like BJP’s B-team.

Targeting the Telangana chief minister, the Congress leader said KCR thinks he is king and Telangana his kingdom.

“Telangana was a dream state for many people. During the last 9 years of rule, the BRS shattered their dream. His (KCR) BRS party is like the BJP Risthedar Samiti,” said Rahul Gandhi.

He accused KCR of corruption and said the BRS leader is allegedly involved in corrupt activities in Dharani portal, Mission Bhagiratha and Kaleshwaram project.

Signalling a repeat of the election win in Karnataka, Gandhi said that the Congress party has the support of poor, tribals, minorities, farmers and small shopkeepers and they will defeat the incumbent government in the upcoming Assembly elections in the Telugu state.
